Hervey Bay is perfectly situated on a north-facing shore that serves as the gateway to World Heritage listed Fraser Island. It’s both a stepping-off point and a thriving centre in its own right. Located just 300km, or a 3-and-a-half hour drive, north of Brisbane, Hervey Bay is also easily accessed by air – a 45 minute flight from Brisbane and a 90 minute flight from Sydney.
The climate here is balmy and outdoor-friendly with average temperatures ranging between 22 and 29 degrees celsius.

It’s no surprise then that all forms of boating and water-based pursuits are so popular here. Combine this with a laidback, easy-going lifestyle and it’s also little wonder that Hervey Bay is booming. The region’s expansion has been exponential in recent years with a population growth triple the state average.
Tourists, locals, and an increasing number of ‘sea changers’, have a deep affinity with this corner of Queensland. It seems the beloved humpback whales are not the only ones to choose this special spot as a place of rest and play, year in and year out. |
